Biographical Notes of Ambassador Ji Chaozhu

H.E. Mr. Ji Chaozhu, born in July 1929; Native of Shanxi Province of China; University Graduate.

1952-1954 Interpreter of the Delegation of the Voluntary Army of the People's Liberation Army and then interpreter of the Chinese Delegation to the Geneva Conference.

1954-1973 Staff Member and then Deputy Director General, Department of Translation and Interpretation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA)

1973-1975 Counsellor, Liaison Office of the People's Republic of China in the United States of America

1975-1982 Deputy Director General of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences and then Deputy Director General of the Department of American and Oceanian Affairs, MFA

1982-1985 Minister Counsellor, Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the United States of America

1985-1987 Ambassador to Fiji and concurrently as Ambassador to Kiribati and Vanuatu

1987-1991 Ambassador to the Court of St. James

1991-1996 Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations

1996-2005 Vice President, All China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese

Married with two sons.
