On December 7, Chargé d’Affaires Cong Peiwu visited the headquarters of the Guardian and held a discussion with Mr. Alan Rusbridger, Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, and Mr. Ian Katz, Deputy Editor of the newspaper.

Chargé d’Affaires Cong first introduced the all-around development and progress of China’s economic and social sectors, and then further explained the deep insight in the Scientific Outlook on Development shared at the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. He expressed the hope that the Guardian would have a deeper understanding of China’s development path and look at contemporary China from an objective and comprehensive perspective.

Mr. Alan Rusbridger, Editor-in-Chief of the Guardian, thanked Chargé d’Affaires Cong for his introduction. He said that he was very impressed with the development and changes in China and that the Guardian attached great importance to the coverage on China and was willing to further increase the input in this respect.

Chargé d’Affaires Cong also answered the questions on the building of an ecological civilization in China and Sino-British trade and economic cooperation.
