He Yafei met with Lord Michael Bates, Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords and Vice-chairman of the Conservative Party, Lord Wei of Shoreditch and other members of the House of Lords and had friendly discussions with them.
He Yafei and Lord Bates and Lord Wei discussed the spread of Chinese culture in Britain, the Chinese teaching in Britain, the participation of the Chinese in British politics and their efforts in safeguarding legal rights.
He Yafei said that unlike the overseas Chinese of the elder generation, most of the overseas Chinese today are students who have received full education. Therefore, they should be more involved in overseas mainstream social activities and be more integrated in the society.
