Xinhuanet, Beijing 13 September (Reporter: Bai Jie) On 13 September 2013, Vice Premier Liu Yandong met with President of British Royal Society Sir Paul Nurse at Zhongnanhai who was making his first visit to China.
Liu Yandong expressed her appreciation for the Royal Society's active efforts of promoting exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and between Chinese and UK scientific and technological circles over the years. She briefed the guest on the progress in the China-UK High-level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange, and expressed the hope that the Royal Society will continue to strengthen exchanges with Chinese scientists, expand fields of cooperation and take an active part in facilitating people-to-people exchange between the two countries.
During his visit, Sir Paul Nurse signed a joint declaration on promoting scientific and technological cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
