On June 13, Ambassador Liu Xiaoming met at the Chinese Embassy with the Rt Hon. David Miliband, Former Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and President and CEO of the International Rescue Committee and exchanged views with him on China-UK relations and international and regional hot issues.
Ambassador Liu commended Miliband on his contribution to China-UK relations while he served as Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, and noted that at present, China and UK enjoy good momentum in their relations with remarkable results in all fields and broad prospects of China-UK “Golden Era”. The Ambassador expressed the hope that Miliband would continue to pay attention to the development of China-UK relations and play a positive role in supporting the friendship and cooperation of the two countries.
Miliband spoke highly of China-UK relations, saying that under the profound changes of the current international situation, China’s position and role on the world stage are becoming increasingly important. He was willing to contribute to the China-UK “Golden Era”.
The two sides also exchanged views on the situation of the Korean Peninsula, China-EU relations and international rescue cooperation.
