Chargé d'Affaires Cong Peiwu Meets with Editor of the Daily Telegraph Tony Gallagher
2012-11-24 21:22

On November 22, Chargé d’Affaires Cong Peiwu met with Mr. Tony Gallagher, Editor of the Daily Telegraph, and Mr. Edward Roussel, Digital Editor of the Telegraph online, at the Chinese Embassy.

Chargé d’Affaires Cong first introduced the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and then explained the concept of the Scientific Outlook on Development and what is needed in order to achieve the country’s goal of building a comprehensive well-off society by 2020. He hoped that the Daily Telegraph, as a prestigious newspaper of UK, would have a deeper understanding of China to make sure that it can provide its readers with information about China’s progress and achievements in all fields in a comprehensive and objective way.

Mr. Tony Gallagher said, “China has made remarkable achievements in its development and nation building. To guide its future development, the 18th CPC National Congress is very important to China. The Daily Telegraph will try to increase the coverage on the development and changes in China, so as to help our readers get a better understanding of the contemporary China.”

Founded in 1855, The Daily Telegraph is the largest mainstream newspaper in UK, with an average daily circulation of about 900,000. Telegraph.co.uk, the online version of the newspaper, is also one of the most popular newspaper websites in UK.
