2012-10-26 18:53

On October 25, 2012, Ambassador Liu Xiaoming met at the Chinese Embassy with Peter Harwood, Chief Minister of Guernsey, and his party.

Ambassador Liu congratulated Mr. Harwood on his assumption of office as the Chief Minister of Guernsey. He pointed out that, in recent years, China and Guernsey are building closer contacts and the two sides have made fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation in the areas such as finance and agriculture. As China and Guernsey have complementary strengths in many fields, Ambassador Liu hoped that the two sides would strengthen exchanges, enhance mutual understanding and explore for new fields of cooperation at a higher level.

Mr. Harwood gave a briefing about Guernsey, stressing that Guernsey attaches importance to the exchanges and cooperation with China. He said that Guernsey has strong advantages in financial services and tourism and welcomes more branches or offices from Chinese banks and financial institutions. Mr. Harwood also invited Ambassador Liu to visit Guernsey at his convenience.

Ambassador Liu thanked Mr. Harwood for his invitation and said that he looked forward to an opportunity to visit Guernsey.
