China and the UK Hold the 24th Human Rights Dialogue

From June 27 to 28, 2017, Special Representative for Human Rights Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Hua co-hosted the 24th China-UK Human Rights Dialogue with Kate White, Director for the Asia Pacific at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the UK in Beijing. Officials in charge of diplomatic, judicial, religious, immigrant and other affairs of the two countries were present.

Respectively introducing their latest progress in the aspects of human rights promotion and protection, the two countries exchanged views on topics of international human rights cooperation, rights of refugees, cooperation in human rights related technologies and others. The Chinese side also put forward such problems of the UK as encroachment upon rights of refugees, infringement upon citizens' privacy, racial discrimination, religious discrimination, hate crimes, gender discrimination and others. Both sides agreed that the dialogue this time was candid, practical, being conducive to enhancing understanding, and handling disputes properly.

Under the arrangement of the Chinese side, the UK delegation for the dialogue visited Beijing Women's Prison and China Women's University on June 28.
