Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Haixing expressed in his speech that since the establishment of ambassadorial level diplomatic relations between China and the UK 45 years ago, the interest integration between the two countries has been constantly expanded, and brought tangible benefits to the two peoples. The influence of China-UK relations has transcended bilateral scope and gotten more and more global significance. In the year of the Rooster, it is believed that China-UK global comprehensive strategic partnership in the 21st century will achieve greater development.
Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Alok Sharma of the UK expressed that over the past 45 years, the two countries have maintained close high-level exchanges and bilateral cooperation in trade, finance, culture, education and other fields has been deepened increasingly. Both countries have become important partners to each other in promoting economic globalization and tackling global challenges. The UK side hopes to take the 45th anniversary of the establishment of ambassadorial level diplomatic relations between China and the UK and the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's successful handover as opportunities to elevate bilateral relations to new highs.
