Xi Jinping and President Emmanuel Macron of France Attend and Address the Closing Ceremony of the China-France Economic Forum
2019/11/06

On November 6, 2019, President Xi Jinping and President Emmanuel Macron of France attended the closing ceremony of the China-France Economic Forum at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping stressed in his speech, China upholds opening-up, pursues a mutually beneficial and win-win strategy of opening-up, and continues to enhance the coordination of internal and external development, so as to deliver more benefits to other countries and peoples while achieving its own development. For French and European business community, China's development is a great opportunity. China's door always remains open to the world and it is hoped that France and Europe also open their doors to Chinese investors in a fair manner.

Xi Jinping pointed out, China always views the China-Europe relations from a strategic perspective, and is willing to work with France and Europe together to firmly support multilateral trading system, oppose protectionism and unilateralism, and build a free and open policy environment for trade and investment so as to inject impetus into the world economic growth.

We should uphold an attitude of openness and inclusiveness, follow the concepts of open, green and clean cooperation, and positively align with the generally accepted international rules and standards. We need to pursue high standard cooperation to improve people's lives and promote sustainable development and jointly construct high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. We should blaze new trails and make innovations, strengthen the alignment of China-France development plans, create an investment environment with two-way opening up and fair competition, and continue to tap cooperation potentials and foster cooperation highlights. We should fulfil our responsibilities as major countries, work together to solve the global governance deficit, safeguard multilateralism, and jointly tackle the global challenges so as to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Emmanuel Macron expressed, the French side highly appreciates China's opening-up, which is believed to offer important opportunities for various countries including France. French enterprises should continue to explore Chinese market with a pioneering and courageous spirit. France and Europe should also open their markets to China, welcome the investment of Chinese companies, and provide them with a level playing field for business. France-China and Europe-China coordination and cooperation should be enhanced on issues such as coping with climate change, the World Trade Organization reform, and safeguarding multilateral trading system.

Yang Jiechi, Hu Chunhua, Wang Yi, He Lifeng and others were present.
