2019/09/10

On September 9, 2019 local time, Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli of Nepal met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Prime Minister's Office in Katmandu.

Khadga Prasad Oli asked Wang Yi to convey his warm greetings and best wishes to the Chinese leaders. He said, the Nepali people cherish profound friendship with China and the two countries enjoy long-term and close friendly cooperation. The future of Nepal is closely related to China's future. Nepal expresses congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, admires the tremendous achievements China has made and sincerely wishes the great Chinese people more success on the road ahead. Nepal firmly sticks to the One China policy and never allows any force to engage in anti-China activities in Nepal. The Nepali side is opposed to any attempt to contain or thwart China's development. Nepal thanks the Chinese side for its long-term and strong support and assistance to the national construction of Nepal, and stands ready to further deepen bilateral cooperation in the process of the joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative, in a bid to push Nepal-China relations for more positive outcomes.

Wang Yi conveyed warm regards of the Chinese leaders to Khadga Prasad Oli. Wang Yi said, China and Nepal are friendly neighboring countries connected by mountains and rivers. With joint efforts of both sides, China-Nepal relations have set a model of equal treatment and mutual benefit and win-win results between big and small countries. The Chinese side appreciates that the Nepali side sticks to the One China policy and never allows any force to engage in anti-China activities in Nepal's territory. China will also continue to firmly support Nepal in maintaining its national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and support the Nepali side in exploring its own development path suited to its national conditions. Both sides need to earnestly implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries on building the Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network, advance cooperation in jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative and boost connectivity in railways, roads, air links, border ports, energy and people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The Chinese side is ready to continue offering assistance to Nepal in its national development and will encourage more Chinese enterprise to invest and run business in Nepal. At present, the development of bilateral relations faces new opportunities. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Nepali side to open up new prospects for the ever-lasting friendly relations between China and Nepal.
