Wang Yi Meets with Executive Secretary Lassina Zerbo of the Provisional Technical Secretariat of the CTBTO Preparatory Commission

On January 31, 2018, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with the visiting Executive Secretary Lassina Zerbo of the Provisional Technical Secretariat of the Preparatory Commission of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).

Wang Yi said the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) is an important pillar of international nuclear disarmament, of which the status cannot be questioned and the role is irreplaceable. Banning nuclear tests is a significant step in nuclear disarmament, and also serves as an important part of building a community with a shared future for mankind and of achieving lasting peace and universal security in the world. China has always adhered to the continuity and stability of its nuclear policy and always supported the CTBT. Recently, the certification of monitoring stations on nuclear-test-ban in China has been passed in batches, demonstrating China's firm support for the CTBT. China is willing to deepen cooperation with the Preparatory Commission and orderly promote the construction and certification of follow-up stations.

Lassina Zerbo said China has always devoted itself to promoting world peace and development. President Xi Jinping proposed to build a community with a shared future for mankind, charting the course for the future of the world. Lassina Zerbo thanked China for its consistent adherence to multilateralism and its firm support for the CTBT and appreciated for the certification of batches of the stations in China. It is hoped that China will play a leading role and continue to support the efforts of international nuclear disarmament.
