2017/10/26

On October 26, 2017, President Xi Jinping held telephone talks with President Vladimir Putin of Russia at request.

Vladimir Putin extended his warm congratulations on the successful conclusion of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Xi Jinping's re-election as General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee. Vladimir Putin said that it is of great importance for the 19th CPC National Congress to establish Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The achievements of the Congress have fully demonstrated the Chinese people's trust and support for the CPC led by Xi Jinping, who has high prestige among the CPC and people. He expressed his heartfelt wishes that President Xi Jinping will lead the CPC, the largest political party in the world, to continuously score new achievements. Russia-China relations stand out as an example of harmonious coexistence between major countries in contemporary world. He is willing to keep close contact with President Xi Jinping, promote bilateral cooperation in various fields as well as maintain close communication and coordination on major international and regional issues.

Xi Jinping thanked Vladimir Putin for the congratulation. Xi Jinping pointed out that the just-concluded 19th CPC National Congress formulated an overall principle and an action guideline for the future development of the CPC and China, which reflects a high degree of consensus reached by all 89 million party members, and is of special and great significance. We have the confidence and the capacity to lead the Chinese people toward the goal of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, which is the CPC's historic responsibility and mission.

Xi Jinping stressed that China cannot develop in isolation from the rest of the world. Russia is China's comprehensive strategic partner of coordination, and whatever volatile changes may take place on the international level, China will not change its determination to deepen relations with Russia. China is willing to work with Russia to push bilateral relations for better development, and achieve more tangible results so as to bring benefits to the two peoples as well as people of all countries.
