Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets with HKSAR Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor
2017/08/09

On August 9, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, exchanging views on the expansion of HKSAR's external exchanges and cooperation.

Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor expressed that in the next five years, Hong Kong is going to yield more achievements in conducting external exchanges, signing business contracts in terms of economy, trade and investment, participating in activities of international organizations and other aspects, hoping the Ministry of Foreign Affairs could continuously provide support.

Wang Yi said that the series of important speeches made by President Xi Jinping in Hong Kong have charted the course for continuously advancing "one country, two systems" policy under the new situation. We will staunchly follow the spirit and demand of the speeches and spare no efforts to well conduct Hong Kong-related diplomacy work, support Hong Kong in bringing its unique advantages into full play, and further carry out external exchanges and cooperation, so as to serve the development of Hong Kong and the mainland.
