|Ambassador Liu Xiaoming Met with Lord Mayor of London Alderman Nick Anstee|
Ambassador Liu Xiaoming made a courtesy call on Alderman Nick Anstee, the Lord Mayor of London on April 8.
Ambassador Liu said that the current financial cooperation between China and the UK has maintained a good momentum. There are already branches of Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank and China Merchants Bank in London and the businesses are progressing smoothly. He hoped that the UK may continue to provide convenience and support for Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in the UK.
Lord Mayor Alderman Nick Anstee said that the City of London has self-contained infrastructures, complete professional services and outstanding talents from around the world and that the financial crisis has not undermined London’s status as an international financial centre. The UK welcomes more Chinese financial enterprises to do business in the UK and have London as their base for entering the European market. He was looking forward to visiting China in September this year. Except for Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, he was particularly hoping to have the opportunity to visit the western city of Chengdu in China. He believed that this visit will further promote the UK-China cooperation in the financial sector.
Ambassador Liu wished Lord Mayor Alderman Nick Anstee’s visit to China a complete success and hoped that more British business and financial people may visit and engage in investment cooperation in the central and western regions of China. He said that China is also accelerating the construction of Shanghai International Financial Center, and he believed that the cooperation between the City of London and Shanghai will enjoy a very broad prospect.
