Lecture: Chinese Tea, Culture and Modern Lifestyles
Thursday 12 June, at Asia House by Professor Mei of Chinalife
Doors 18:30 pm Talk 18:45-19:45
It was the Chinese who first discovered the health benefits of tea, and they have been drinking it for more than 2000 years. Today, tea plays a major role in Chinese medicine as well as being enjoyed for its therapeutic benefits around the world.
In his lecture, Prof Mei, a Chinese medicine specialist from Beijing University who now runs Chinalife in Camden, will explore the relationship between modern living and Chinese tea culture. This developed in china alongside more formal aspects of culture, such as philosophy, poetry and the visual arts, and is a link between everyday life and the arts.
