Military Attaché Held a Reception to Celebrate 80th Anniversary of the founding of PLA

Major General Zhang Jianguo, defence attache of the Chinese embassy in the UK held a reception in the evening of 26 July to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of People's Liberation Army (PLA). More than 200 people including Chargé d'affaires a.i. Pan Hejun, Vice Chief of Staff of British Navy Rear Admiral Macy, Directorate of Reserve Forces and Cadets of Ministry of Defence Brigadier Lloyd, resident military attachés of diplomatic corps as well as representatives of Chinese communities in the UK were invited to attend the reception.

 

Major General Zhang Jianguo presented the brilliant course of PLA during the past 80 years and its important contribution to anti-Fascist war. Major General Zhang emphasized the PLA is the people's army, which will resolutely safeguard national security and territorial integrity, defend the people's safety, combat and curb "Taiwan Independence" secessionist activities. Chinese government will insist on peaceful development, follow a national defense policy that is defensive in nature, promote and implement the new concept of security featuring mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality and coordination, adhere to Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, persist in advancing international security cooperation, strengthen foreign military relations as well as actively participate in UN peacekeeping operations and international research and rescue operations.

 

Major General Zhang had a very high opinion of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and UK. He mentioned as the bilateral relations become increasingly close, the militaries of the two countries strengthened cooperation in the aspects of international peacekeeping and training.

 

At the reception, Major General Zhang, Chargé d'affaires a.i. Pan Hejun and Rear Admiral Macy cut the cake in celebration of the 80th anniversary of PLA .
