|Fu Ying Visited Press Complaints Commission|
On 28 June 2007, Ambassador Fu Ying visited Press Complaints Commission and had an informal discussion with Sir Christopher Meyer, Chairman of PCC and former British Ambassador to the US. Sir Christopher welcomed Fu Ying and made a brief introduction of PCC, including organizational structure, staff and operating mode. Fu Ying briefed the development of Chinese newspaper industry and extended the wish of strengthening the exchange and cooperation between China and UK in the related fields.
Founded in 1991, the Press Complaints Commission is a self-regulatory organization for newspaper industry in UK which deals with complaints from the public about British newspapers and magazines and is entitled to demand the newspapers and magazines concerned to make corrections and apologize to the complainants. The revised Code of Practice, issued in June 2005, standardizes the accuracy, access to information, use of news equipments, protection of interview target as well as reports on special themes, e.g. religious and criminal cases.
