Ambassador Liu Xiaoming Holds On-line Meeting with High Commissioner of Singapore to the UK Lim Thuan Kuan

On 10 November, Ambassador Liu Xiaoming had an on-line meeting with Lim Thuan Kuan, the new High Commissioner of Singapore to the UK.

Ambassador Liu extended welcome to the new High Commissioner. China-Singapore relationship has developed smoothly over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, said the Ambassador, and in 2015 President Xi Jinping and leader of Singapore issued the joint statement on the establishment of an All-Round Cooperative Partnership Progressing with the Times, which charted the course for this relationship to develop further. Singapore is a good friend and partner of China. The two sides understand and support each other. The relationship between the two countries has withstood the test of Covid-19 and the friendship between the two peoples has further strengthened in the joint fight against the pandemic. Attaching high importance to the development of China-Singapore relationship, China stands ready to take the 30th anniversary as an opportunity to work closely with Singapore to deepen practical cooperation in various sectors, build high quality Belt and Road, and uphold multilateralism and free trade, so as to further develop their relationship and make new contribution to the peace, stability, and prosperity regionally and globally.

High Commissioner Lim agreed with Ambassador Liu on his positive remarks about Singapore-China relationships, saying that over the past 30 years since the two countries established diplomatic ties, their bilateral relationship has enjoyed positive development, and practical cooperation in various fields, including economy and trade, has deepened. He said that Singapore is ready to enhance exchanges and cooperation with China in various sectors and hoped that the two missions would strengthen communication, so as to make contribution to the development of Singapore-China relationship.

The two sides also exchanged views on current international situation.
