H.E. Mr. Jiang Enzhu, born in December 1938; Native of Jiangsu Province of China; University Graduate.

1964-1978 Staff Member, Attaché, Third Secretary and then Second Secretary, Office of the Charges D'affaires of the People's Republic of China in the United kingdom (then Embassy of the PRC in the UK).

1978-1981 Second Secretary and then Deputy Director, Department of Western European Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA)

1981-1982 Research fellow at the Institute of International Studies of the Harvard university and then Visiting scholar of Brookings Institution.

1982-1990 Second Secretary, Director, Deputy Director General and then Director General, Department of Western European Affairs, MFA

1990-1991 Assistant Minister, MFA

1991-1995 Vice Minister, MFA

1995-1997 Ambassador to the Court of St. James

1997-2000 Director, Xinhua News Agency Hong Kong Branch

2000-2002 Director, the Liaison Office of the Central People's

Government in the HK Special Administrative Region

2002-2003 Cochairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of the Ninth National Committee of the National People's Congress

2003- Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of the Tenth National People's Congress.
