Chinese Embassy Spokesperson's Remarks on the Follow-up to The Guardian's Misuse of A Chinese Enterprise-related Picture in One of Its Reports
2021/02/25

Question: We noticed that The Guardian has changed the picture that had been used in its report on 22 February about engine parts dropped from a Longtail Aviation's Boeing 747 cargo plane in Netherlands causing injury. Has The Guardian given any explanation or apologized to the Chinese enterprise affected by the misinformation?

Embassy Spokesperson: We noticed that The Guardian has removed the misused picture, but it has not given the public an explanation or apology for the misconduct. We also noticed the statement by the Chinese enterprise affected by the misinformation, who requests an apology. We urge the media to draw lessons from its mistake, uphold the professional ethics of journalism, abandon the arrogance and prejudice against China, and report on China and its development in an objective, fair, balanced and accurate manner.
