2010/08/02

Q: Pakistan has been hit by heavy flooding. How does China comment? What rescue and assistance measures will be provided?

A: Recently, some parts of Pakistan have been hit by heavy flooding, inflicting serious loss of life and property. China expresses deep condolences over the victims of the flooding as well as sympathy to the families of the victims and the affected people.

China and Pakistan are close and friendly neighbors. In order to show the amity of the Chinese Government and people and help the affected Pakistani people to overcome difficulties, the Chinese Government has decided to provide to the Pakistani Government emergency humanitarian assistance of RMB 10 million including materials of urgent need for the affected areas such as tents and medicine and will deliver it as soon as possible. In addition, the Red Cross Society of China will also provide emergency humanitarian assistance to Pakistan.
