Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Jiang Yu's Remarks on the Iranian Nuclear Issue
2010/08/02

Q: Iran recently submitted a letter to the Director General of the IAEA, expressing its willingness to engage in negotiations on the fuel swap of the Tehran research reactor. How does China comment?

A: We welcome such a move and hope Vienna Group and Iran would hold consultations on the fuel supply issue soon and reach an agreement at an early date so as to help resolve the Iranian nuclear issue through dialogue and negotiation.

Q: How does China comment on the recent EU sanctions over Iran?

A: China does not favor the unilateral sanctions imposed by the EU on Iran. We hope all parties concerned adhere to the diplomatic means and properly resolve the Iranian nuclear issue through dialogue and negotiation.
