On June 23rd, Ambassador Liu Xiaoming visited the British Royal Institute of International Affairs and joined Dr. Robin Niblett, Director of the Institute, and heads of the relevant research units in a discussion.
Dr. Niblett welcomed Ambassador Liu’s visit and said that the Institute focused its research on the issues of global and strategic significance from a UK perspective and in recent years it has paid a close attention to China's rising international status and foreign relations and conducted a lot of research in the field. He hoped to further strengthen the Institute’s exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese Embassy in the UK as well as the government departments and relevant research institutions in China. Dr. Niblett also briefed the Ambassador on the organizational structure, research staff and latest research results of the Institute.
Ambassador Liu commended the Royal Institute of International Affairs as a prestigious think tank for international studies leading the world in many fields. He said that China attaches importance to strengthening the exchanges and cooperation with the Institute to regularly exchange views on issues of common interest and improve mutual understanding. Ambassador Liu also exchanged views with experts and scholars of the Institute on issues including China-UK relations, China-EU relations, China’s Africa policies and climate change policies and expounded on China’s relevant positions.
