Ambassador Liu Xiaoming Meets with Ma Qiang Newly-Appointed Chinese Consul General to Edinburgh

On November 1, Ambassador Liu Xiaoming met at Chinese Embassy with Ma Qiang, the newly-appointed Chinese Consul General to Edinburgh.

Congratulating Consul General Ma on his appointment, Ambassador Liu noted that the overall development of China-UK relations is stable, in which the cooperation between regions and provinces has become an important pillar. In recent years, the governments of China and Scottish government have had many mutual visits, including the visits to Edinburgh by Hu Chunhua in the capacity of Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, Liu Yandong as Vice Premier of the State Council, and Cai Qi, Secretary of Beijing Municipal Committee. Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland has paid two visits to China. There are many highlights in the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in the fields of economy, trade, culture, education and tourism, etc. The Ambassador hoped that Consul General Ma would establish extensive contacts with all walks of life in Scotland, enhance cooperation in various fields vigorously, and further strengthen China-Scotland relationship, so as to make contribution to China-UK "Golden Era".

Consul General Ma said that the Consulate General in Edinburgh, under the guidance of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, would work hard to do its best for China-UK relations by promoting friendship with various sectors in Scotland, expanding common interests between China and Scotland, and further enhancing China-Scotland relations.
