Charge d'Affaires a.i. Chen Wen Attends City Week of the City of London

On May 20, Charge d'Affaires a.i. Chen Wen attended City Week of the City of London and participated in the panel discussions.

Financial service has always been an important part of China-UK economic and trade cooperation, said Chen, which has gradually formed an interwoven, mutually beneficial and win-win situation. China-UK Financial cooperation has achieved fruitful results with deepening partnership in the fields of banking and insurance and a good momentum on the Belt and Road Initiative. The UK has been playing an important role in RMB internationalisation, with London being the world’s largest RMB offshore trading centre and the second largest RMB offshore clearing centre after Hong Kong, China. In 2018, China launched a series of specific opening-up measures for the financial sector, which created a better environment to strengthen financial cooperation between China and Britain.

Looking ahead, China-UK financial cooperation has three major opportunities: the constantly growing Chinese economy, deeper reform and further opening up in China, and the Belt and Road Initiative. Chen hoped that China and the UK would seize the opportunities, tap the potential and create more highlights in their cooperation.

The participants spoke highly of China's determination to further deepen reform and opening up and China’s major opening-up measures for the financial sector. They are optimistic about the potential of China's market and are willing to strengthen cooperation with China to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results.
