Minister Zhu Qin Attends the Polymer Engineering International/China-UK AMRI Research Workshop

On September 18 and 19, Minister Zhu Qin was invited to attend the 10th Polymer Engineering International/China-UK AMRI Research Workshop at the University of Bradford and address an audience of nearly 100 people, including Professor Phil Coates, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Matthew Rous, Chief Executive of China-Britain Business Council, Kersten England, Chief executive of Bradford Council, Professor Li Guangxian, former Vice President of Sichuan University and representatives from Chinese and British governments, academic and technological circles.

On behalf of Ambassador Liu Xiaoming and the Chinese Embassy in the UK, Minister Zhu extended his warmest congratulations on the workshop. He said, “Material is the foundation for human survival and progress. It is indispensable in the economic development of a country and better life for its people.” Zhu spoke highly of the long-term cooperation between the University of Bradford and China, and congratulated Professor Coates on his winning of the 2018 International Science and Technology Cooperation Award. He also expressed his special thanks to Professor Coates and the Bradford team for their significant contribution to China-UK cooperation on material science.

Matthew Rous said that in the context of the increasingly close technology and trade cooperation between China and the UK, mutual investment has been growing, which has brought tangible benefit to the two countries and their peoples.

England said that given the great importance China attaches to technological R&D investment, international exchanges and cooperation, the City of Bradford, with its unique strengths in professionals, technology and resources, is willing to further strengthen cooperation with China on technology and investment.

During the workshop, Minister Zhu also attended a welcome dinner hosted by Councillor Zafar Ali, Lord Mayor of the City of Bradford.
