Minister Zhu Qin Holds a Lecture for Oxford University DSP Members

On 10 January, Minister Zhu Qin gave a lecture on China's diplomacy at the Embassy to members of the Oxford University Diplomatic Studies Programme (DSP). About 20 diplomats from the United States, Russia, Germany, Poland, Turkey, Moldova, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Australia, the Bahamas, Fiji, and Ghana attended the lecture.

Minister Zhu elaborated upon the essence and the major outcomes of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and the overall goal, the basic tasks, the policies and principles of China's diplomacy in the new era, pointing out that China will keep to the path of peaceful development to build a new type of international relations and a community with a shared future for mankind. China will continue to safeguard world peace, contribute to global development, and uphold international order. He also briefed the participants on the development of China-UK relations.

Minister Zhu answered questions raised by DSP members on China's development mode, Belt and Road Initiative, China-UK economic and trade cooperation, China-India-Pakistan relations and the issues of South China Sea.

Kate Jones, DSP Director of the Oxford University and the DPS members expressed their appreciation for the substantial, up-to-date and convincing information of the lecture. The face-to-face exchanges with Chinese diplomats this time showed to them a different China from what is reported by Western media, which would help them have a better understanding of China's foreign policy and its development.
