On 27 February 2017, Charge d'Affaires a.i. Zhu Qin of Chinese Embassy in the UK attended the joint launch ceremony of CAS President's International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI) and the British Royal Family held by HRH the Duke of York at the Buckingham Palace. Minister Counsellor of Science and Technology Jiang Sunan of the Chinese Embassy was present at the ceremony. HRH the Duke of York and President of CAS Bai Chunli addressed the ceremony, and announced that the initiative was named the Duke of York-CAS President's International Fellowship Initiative. More than 100 people including presidents of renowned British universities and fellows of the Royal Society attended the event.
PIFI, a CAS funding project for global researchers, is designed to attract more international talents to participate in scientific research in China so as to expand the CAS partnership network and build a more international research team. The cooperation between CAS and the Royal Family will further enhance the international recognition of PIFI, and boost more cooperation between British scientific and technological personnel and their Chinese counterparts in research projects in China.
