Xi Jinping Meets with Chairman of the National Assembly of Viet Nam Vuong Dinh Hue

On April 8, 2024, President Xi Jinping met with Chairman of the National Assembly of Viet Nam Vuong Dinh Hue at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Xi Jinping asked Vuong Dinh Hue to convey his cordial greetings to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Xi Jinping pointed out that during his visit to Viet Nam at the end of last year, he and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong jointly announced the building of a China-Viet Nam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, opening a new chapter in bilateral relations. With the joint efforts of the two sides, the common understandings reached between him and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong are being implemented. The most distinctive feature of China-Viet Nam relations is that the two sides pursue common goals and share the same future, and "comrades-plus-brothers" is the most vivid portrayal of the traditional friendship between the two parties and countries. It is important that the two sides work jointly to deliver more outcomes in building a China-Viet Nam community with a shared future, so as to advance their respective modernization drives, bring more benefits to the two peoples, and make greater contributions to the global socialist cause.

Xi Jinping stressed that at present, the international and regional situation is undergoing profound and complex changes. It is in the common interests of China and Viet Nam to safeguard the socialist system and maintain national stability and development. The two sides should heighten the awareness of China-Viet Nam community with a shared future shared future with a high-level mutual trust, strengthen the foundation of the China-Viet Nam community through high-quality cooperation, and advance the building of the community with high-level political wisdom. China is ready to enhance experience exchanges with Viet Nam in  governance of the party and the country, bring into full play the coordination role of the China-Viet Nam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, synergize the Belt and Road Initiative and the Two Corridors and One Economic Circle strategy at a faster pace, and enhance exchanges between the youth, sister cities and through other channels. Xi Jinping expressed the hope that the legislative institutions of the two sides will deepen exchanges and cooperation at all levels, strengthen mutual learning on legislative supervision experience, and play an important role in enhancing people-to-people friendship between the two countries.

Vuong Dinh Hue conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to General Secretary Xi Jinping. He said that as the comrade and brother, the party and government of Viet Nam highly appreciate China's development and progress and sincerely admire the historic achievements China has made in building socialism with Chinese characteristics since the 18th National Congress of the CPC. At this year's annual two sessions, China set such goals as developing new quality productive forces, which is an innovative move of socialism and provides useful reference for Viet Nam. He expressed the belief that China will build itself into a great modern socialist country in all respects on schedule and make important contributions to world peace, stability and development. The Vietnamese side firmly pursues the one-China policy, believes that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and steadfastly opposes separatist activities for "Taiwan independence" in any form. Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Xizang affairs are also China's internal affairs, and China will surely be able to maintain long-term stability and prosperity. Viet Nam adheres to an independent foreign policy and takes China as the top strategic priority in its foreign relations. Viet Nam will keep close exchanges and cooperation with China at all levels in accordance with the goals of "greater political mutual trust, more solid security cooperation, deeper mutually beneficial cooperation, stronger popular support, closer multilateral coordination and better handling of differences" as set by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary Xi Jinping, continue to consolidate high-level political mutual trust, and actively synergize the Two Corridors and One Economic Circle strategy and the Belt and Road Initiative. The National Assembly of Viet Nam is ready to maintain close exchanges with the National People's Congress of China and play a positive role in enhancing the people-to-people friendship between the two countries and promoting the building of a Viet Nam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
