Peng Liyuan Visits Buda Castle and Has Tea with Zsuzsanna Nagy, Wife of Hungarian President Tamás Sulyok

On the morning of May 9, 2024 local time, Peng Liyuan, wife of President Xi Jinping  visited upon invitation the Buda Castle and had tea with Zsuzsanna Nagy, wife of Hungarian President Tamás Sulyok, in Budapest.

Zsuzsanna Nagy accompanied Peng Liyuan to view the exhibition of Hungarian Herend porcelain and traditional embroidery craftsmanship. Peng Liyuan said she was impressed by the exquisite Hungarian porcelain and superb embroidery craftsmanship. Noting that porcelain and embroidery are common symbols of Chinese and Hungarian civilizations, she expressed her hope that artists of the two countries will strengthen exchanges and mutual learning, and promote the integration of civilizations.

Peng Liyuan and Zsuzsanna Nagy listened to a briefing on the restoration of the Szent Istvan Hall of the Buda Castle. Peng Liyuan applauded the exquisite restoration skills of Hungarian experts, and expressed the hope that the two sides will enhance cooperation in the protection and restoration of cultural relics, so that historical legacies will be passed on in a better way.

Peng Liyuan also had a friendly and cordial chat over tea with Zsuzsanna Nagy. Peng Liyuan said Hungary is a beautiful country and its people are very hospitable. Sharing many similarities in culture and a profound affinity between the people, China and Hungary enjoys a solid foundation for friendship. She expressed the hope that the friendship between the two countries will be passed on from generation to generation and grow from strength to strength.
